What Carl Hansen & Søn highlights

  • Steam-bent top

The top rail and armrests are one steam-bent piece, held up by the Y-shaped back.

  • Hand-woven seat

The seat is woven by hand from about 120 m of paper cord, which takes a skilled weaver about an hour.

  • Mostly handmade

Carl Hansen says the chair takes more than 100 steps, most of them by hand.

  • In production since 1950

Wegner designed it for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1949, and it has been made since 1950.

As described by Carl Hansen & Søn on its official pages; not a Chairpedia assessment.
