Aeron Classic vs Remastered: Check the Actual Chair
Compare Aeron generation evidence, fitted support and seller photos. Learn why lumbar pads, color and listing names alone cannot identify the chair.

A seller's use of “Aeron” does not establish its generation, size or fitted options. Before paying a Remastered premium, ask for evidence from the actual chair rather than a stock photograph.
A historical Aeron example
This 2007 photograph shows an earlier Aeron with a lumbar pad. Use it to recognize the visible frame and support, then ask for the seller's actual label and mechanism photos. It does not establish the size or installed options of another chair.

What changes your buying decision?
Herman Miller distinguishes Classic Pellicle from Remastered 8Z Pellicle and the older tilt mechanism from Harmonic 2 Tilt. Remastered offers a fully adjustable arm configuration, but not every chair has it. Compare the installed options, not the maximum specification for the model family.
Condition can outweigh generation when two used offers differ in worn mesh, loose controls or missing parts. Make separate notes for the chair price, likely repairs, delivery and return terms. A cheaper Classic with clear condition evidence may suit a budget better than an unidentified offer described as Remastered; this is a shopping criterion, not a market-price estimate.
Before agreeing to the purchase
- Confirm size using the Aeron size guide.
- Request the actual label, mechanism, back-support and seat-edge photos.
- Ask which parts were replaced and which generation they fit.
- Confirm who supplies warranty service and pays return shipping.
