What Thonet highlights

  • Bent solid wood

The chair is made by bending solid wood, a technique Michael Thonet developed in the 1850s. Thonet says it made serial furniture production possible for the first time.

  • Flat-packed from the start

Thonet says 36 disassembled chairs fitted in a one cubic metre box, to be assembled where they were sold.

  • Seat versions

The 214 comes with a cane, moulded plywood or upholstered seat.

As described by Thonet on its official pages; not a Chairpedia assessment.
