Summary

A Hadi Teherani-designed aluminium swivel chair with a lockable synchronous mechanism and a 10-year warranty.

Best for

  • Offices that want a design-led chair; the SILVER series won Red Dot awards in 2003 and 2007.
  • Users within the 50–120 kg range that the weight adjustment covers.
  • Buyers who want a long warranty; Interstuhl covers all products and spare parts for 10 years.

Good to check first

  • The data sheet lists seat height and back lock controls, but no arm, lumbar or seat depth adjustment.
  • Buy through an Interstuhl dealer; the brand lists no online US price.
  • The seat-to-back opening angle is 104°, so it suits upright work more than leaning far back.

The trade-off

A clean, minimal look with hidden controls, at the cost of fewer adjustments than most task chairs.

Sold through Interstuhl dealers; the brand does not list a US price online.

What Interstuhl highlights

  • Synchronous mechanism

The seat tilts in step as the backrest moves back. Interstuhl says this balances the chair as you change position, and the back can be locked.

  • Weight adjustment

Backrest pressure is set to the user's weight, from 50 to 120 kg. Interstuhl describes the setting as infinitely variable.

  • Hidden controls

The seat height and back lock controls are recessed into the chair's shell. Interstuhl says this keeps them flush with the design.

  • Hand-finished upholstery

The seat and back are padded with foam made in Interstuhl's own foaming plant. The covers are not glued on, which Interstuhl says lets air move through.

  • Aluminium base

The chair stands on a five-leg aluminium base. Interstuhl offers polished, chrome, silver and coated finishes.

As described by Interstuhl on its official pages; not a Chairpedia assessment.
